Right and left

Let's start with the good news - the tumor in Anya's right eye is responding very well to the chemotherapy. It has shrunk in size significantly and where it has shrunk to is the best possible place it could have gone. That is important because there will come a time when the doctor needs to "blast it," to use his words. When he blasts it, it will inevitably leave some scarring, but in this case the scarring should not affect her vision too much.

The tumor in her left eye has not gotten any smaller. It hasn't grown in size either. This tumor was much smaller to begin with than the tumor in her right eye, in fact it didn't even show up on the MRI. It also has a strange appearance to it. It is not a healthy looking tumor (how is that for an oxymoron?), it has gray edges and appears to not have grown in a typical manner. Originally, the doctor told us that it almost looks as if it was starting to die, but then came back. It is definitely there, and not dying on its own. For now we wait another month and hope that it responds to the next round of chemotherapy.
