Double duty

We had the pleasure of taking both girls to see the ophthalmologist earlier this week.  Can you hear my sarcasm in that statement?  We got good news - mostly.  Anya's eyes continue to be stable.   Her next appointment with the ophthalmologist will be an exam under anesthesia at the end of the month.

Reese decided not to cooperate, so the doctor couldn't even get a peek in her eyes.  With the genetic testing results back as negative on Reese in addition to Will and I, the chances that she has Retinoblastoma are very slim.  But there is still the chance, and we all would like the peace of mind that comes with knowing that her eyes are clear.  That means that Reese will have another exam under anesthesia.  Those exams are so emotionally taxing on Will and I, that we asked to do Reese's exam on a different day than Anya's.  We get to look forward to that sometime before Thanksgiving, which will be almost exactly six months after her last exam under anesthesia.  I have a hunch that she will be on the semi-annual EUA plan until she is more cooperative in the doctor's office, which the doctor doesn't expect to happen until she is two and a half or three.
