Dancing again

There has been quite a bit of dancing around our house lately.  It has been sparked by this beautiful tutu/leotard ensemble and a book called "Dance" that Anya received for her birthday.  Can you tell how much concentration is going on?  She gets that tongue-out thing from me - it is not the most attractive look, but it clearly shows she is working hard on something.  Of course, the best part of all this dancing is that Anya is seeing well enough to dance.

Yesterday morning we were back at the ophthalmologist's office.  Anya was cooperative and let him take a good look into her eyes.  He was able to see that the retina in her left eye is attached.  Wonderful news, yet as he said, "we are not out of the woods yet."  In her right eye, there was still fluid, meaning the retina was still detached.  We weren't expecting it to be resolved so quickly, so that isn't necessarily bad news.  The doctor wants to see Anya next week for another exam under anesthesia.  This will allow him to get the best look possible into her eyes.  The other reason to have her be under anesthesia is in case it might be necessary to do a further procedure.

It is reassuring to all of us to see Anya acting like herself.  She is moving around well, almost too well, as Will and I are often reminding her to "be careful, please!"  She woke up this morning anxious to go to school, and was so very happy to be there with her friends.  I am still surprised that she only missed one day of school through all of this.  The day ended with a spontaneous dance party in the kitchen.  Anya and Reese were both beaming, as were Will and I.  She is one amazing girl, and she is leading us all in the healing.
