Frequent patient

Anya recently saw the dentist and, thankfully, was given the clear for another three months.  She has the beginning of 3-4 cavities that we are working hard to stave off for awhile, but she still has to go every three months for a check-up.

That got me thinking about the amount of appointments Anya has.  These are how many visits she has each year:
Dentist                          4
Oncologist                    4
Retina Specialist           4
Ocular plastic surgeon - someday should get down to 1, but for now is about 4-6
Ocularist - likewise will one day get down to 1, but 3-4 now
Pediatrician                   1

For a total of             18-21 appointments each year.  I am pleased that this is a much smaller number than two years ago.  It still is a lot, especially considering that all but one of those visits is an hour drive away from home.  In contrast, her sister has these appointments each year:
Dentist                          2
Retina Specialist           1
Pediatrician                   1

Making a total of 4 doctor appointments per year, which is one more than most healthy children.
Another way to think of it is this:  Reese goes to see a doctor or dentist once every three months, while Anya goes roughly every two and a half weeks.  I think she should get some sort of frequent patient award.
