At the ocularist

Yesterday, we wrapped up the month of many appointments with a visit to the ocularist.  Walter is not as much of a softie as Dr. D was, and most definitely had plans to take Anya's prosthesis out.  Before he did so, he checked the fit and alignment, which were all fine.  Then, upon taking her prosthesis out, he found that her exposure had closed up.  Pleasantly surprising news, this was to all of us.  I could still see the white spot, but it did have lots of red tissues over it.  He claims that it is totally covered, which, though not unheard of, is very rare.  I hope that the doctor sees it the same way.  It would mean one less procedure in June when she goes in for surgery.

Anya was calm and patient getting the prosthesis out, but getting it back in was a different story.  He tried three times and each time she moved her head at the last second.  In the end, he had to go get his brother, a.k.a office manager and restrainer to help hold her head.  With her head still, it went in smoothly, although aided by many tears.  The duration of the entire visit was less than her lollipop.
