Forgive me if these pictures seem gruesome or distasteful, but before Anya's surgery we received some photos of a friend with retinoblastoma who had the same surgery, right eye and all, just seven months ago.  The night before surgery, Anya and I spent a long time at the computer looking at and talking about those photos.  It helped to prepare us both for what was to come.  Part of my intention with this blog is to help others who may be traveling down a similar path.  My primary intention, though, is to provide a record for Anya, so that one day she may look back and see all that she has accomplished.  I believe that these photos aide in both of those goals.

Anya once again has taken the lead, and shown us the way to heal.  We are slowly getting back to routine around here.  Today Will went to work while Anya, Reese, and I went to one of Anya's favorite places these days, Crackpots, a paint-your-own-pottery studio just blocks away from our house.  Tomorrow, she will head back to school, which she is very much looking forward to.  Wednesday brings dance class, and the events just go on and on, and help to remind us that even in the midst of trying times, the sun still rises and sets, and the days pile up.  With each passing day, more healing takes place in Anya's overly examined and prodded body.
