1 down, 11 to go

Luckily chemotherapy treatments start a bit later than OR procedures. Anya didn't have to be to the hospital until 10:30 today, so she was able to go to school for an hour this morning. It made an otherwise dreary day a bit more cheerful. Soon after we arrived to the infusion unit, Anya discovered the arts and crafts group. She joined right in, briefly had to stop to be hooked up to her fluids and chemo drugs, and went back to crafting. There were a lot of new people to meet and procedures to learn. Soon enough, we'll know them all. The day actually passed quickly by, and we left the hospital earlier than expected.
The evening was a bit harder. I am sure that had to do with all the drugs coursing through her little body, but it also had a lot to do with not having a nap today. Anya has a sudden love for Chipotle and was promised that tonight. She claims she loves Chipotle because, "I love pork". I still don't know how vegetarian Will produced such a meat lover of a daughter. She didn't get through much of her pork quesadilla before she was overwhelmed with exhaustion and ready to go home. She was asleep by 6:30 tonight. Tomorrow we head back for day two of her first course of chemotherapy. It should be a much shorter day at the hospital as she has only one drug, as opposed to the three she received today.
The pictures you see here are from last Thursday. We came home to a big box of treats from our friends Casey and Evie and some flowers from our Nebraska family. Anya was absolutely beside herself with both. The flowers were all red and purple, which are her favorite colors and she calls them her "bouquet". The treats were all of Anya's favorite things and the salami is already gone. Thanks so much to everyone for the love and support you have shown us. We need it and we are so very thankful for it.
