A new doc

Anya has become adept at removing and replacing her prosthetic eye. What once was fear-inducing and difficult has become a simple task. She has had problems lately with her prosthesis turning frequently, to the extent where classmates have to point it out to her. At her last appointment with the retina specialist, she removed her prosthesis in order to allow him to look at the implant underneath. He did not like what he saw. It appears that there is part of an exposure. He did not know what to do exactly since it is not his field, though he did mention the possibility of removing the prosthesis for an extended period of time (months). This would certainly be difficult for Anya as she does not like the feeling of having her prosthesis out, not to mention that it would change her appearance drastically. Additional surgery is another possibility. She will be seeing the oculofacial plastic surgeon this week to see what needs to be done. Her last surgeon, whom she adores, has moved to Texas, so it will be a visit to a new doctor this week.
